However, injuries to Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele have shown that Spurs could still do with another option in the middle of the park, and a Euro 2016 star has now been linked with a move to White Hart Lane.

The 27-year-old has made over 60 appearances for Fiorentina since his 2014 move from Hamburg, and partnered former Spurs ace Luka Modric in the heart of Croatia’s midfield at Euro 2016.
Badelj has now been linked with a move to follow in Modric’s footsteps by joining Spurs in January, but the player’s agent suggests he knows nothing of a possible deal.

Speaking to Sport Witness, Dejan Joksimovic suggested that he doesn’t think the report is true, and whilst nobody from Spurs has contacted him about a move, he did acknowledge that conversations may have been held between Tottenham and Fiorentina.
“I don’t think that is true,” said Joksimovic. “No one has spoken with any Tottenham official regarding Badelj. Maybe the clubs between themselves,” he added.
