Newcastle United thought they had landed a real coup in January 2019 when they signed Miguel Almiron, but it hasn’t quite gone to plan.

The Paraguayan playmaker joined in a £20million deal from Atlanta United following a lengthy pursuit from Rafael Benitez, and he had a very impressive record in Major League Soccer.

Almiron hit 22 goals and 21 assists in 70 games for Atlanta, but the challenge was for him to make the transition from the United States to England.

Goals have been hard to come by for Newcastle, as have assists; he’s only bagged nine goals and five assists for the Magpies, and there are now questions over his future.

Agent Daniel Campos suggested earlier this week that Almiron isn’t entirely happy at Newcastle, and hinted that Atletico Madrid are keen.

Now, Campos has spoken to Europa Calcio in Italy, and he claims that Inter Milan want to sign Almiron in 2021.

He claims that Inter have shown an interest in signing Almiron, but there is little movement on a potential deal as things stand.

“Inter have shown interest in Miguel Almiron, but no progress has been made,” said Campos, hinting that a move may be in the pipeline.

A big move to the San Siro would be a surprise for the 26-year-old, who hasn’t exactly starred at Newcastle, but Inter have attempted to rejuvenate a number of ex-Premier League players in recent times – and may now see Almiron as another such case.
