The agent of Marko Grujic has told Kicker that Liverpool do not plan to send the midfielder out on loan, amid reported interest from Aston Villa.

According to a report in Goal.com in August, Villa are interested in signing Grujic from Premier League rivals Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

Fali Ramadani told Kicker, as translated by This Is Anfield: “Liverpool want to keep Marko. That could change in January at the earliest.”

Blow for Aston Villa?

Grujic is a very good midfielder who has earned quite a lot of experience of first-team football during his time away from Liverpool on loan.

The 24-year-old midfielder has been out on loan at Red Star Belgrade, Cardiff City and Hertha Berlin in recent years.

Villa could do with a dynamic midfielder who can hold his own in the middle of the park, and signing Grujic on a loan deal would make Dean Smith’s side stronger.

Liverpool stay?

Grujic has made only a handful of appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool so far in his career.

If manager Jurgen Klopp wants to see how the Serbia international does for his team, then he will have to play him in competitive games.

Staying at Anfield for the first half of this season would mean that Klopp would be able to make a good judgement of the midfielder’s quality.
