The agent of Jamie Shackleton has said on The Phil Hay Show that he could leave Leeds United in the January transfer window.

Hayden Evans has said that Shackleton’s family wants the Leeds youngster to get more minutes.

Evans has added that there could be a conversation with Leeds Director of Football Victor Orta about the future of the 22-year-old.

What Jamie Shackleton’s agent has said

Shackleton’s agent said on The Phil Hay Show, as transcribed by Leeds Live: ““As luck or bad luck would happen for Luke, he’s had more minutes this season. Typical Jamie, though, he picks up an injury just as he’s flying, misses a couple then you never know when he’s going to get back in.

“It’s a little bit of a yoyo and it is consistently monitored by us and clearly his family who are keen for him to get minutes.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a dilemma, but it is one of those that has to be reviewed carefully come January and see how many minutes he’s got. We can have open discussions with Victor [Orta] and say that our player isn’t playing more.”

What should Jamie Shackleton do?

Shackleton is only 22 and can operate as a central midfielder or as a right-back.

The Englishman made his breakthrough into the Leeds first team in 2018.

The youngster have made 26 starts in all competitions.

Shackleton has played 73 times in all competitions for Leeds so far in his career.

The 22-year-old is unlikely to get much playing time in the coming weeks and months.

Especially when all the injured players are back to full fitness.

And especially as Leeds are in danger of getting relegated from the Premier League.

Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa has given chances to promising young players during his time at Elland Road.

However, with a place in the Premier League at stake, Bielsa is unlikely to give too many chances to Shackleton.

However, we must remember that Bielsa rates the 22-year-old highly.

The Leeds boss told Leeds Live in December 2020 that Shackleton is “energetic, he’s quick, he can surprise opponents”.
