Agent claims Juan Foyth will have Tottenham exit talks soon

The agent of Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth has told talkSPORT that his client will likely move on this summer.

Foyth was a favourite of Mauricio Pochettino, having landed him from Estudiantes in 2017. The centre back was touted for a huge future, and has certainly shown flashes at Spurs.

The Argentinian is impressive at bringing the ball out from the back, but has sometimes made mistakes at the back. He’s far from the finished article, but it seems that Jose Mourinho has seen enough.

Since Mourinho was brought in as Pochettino’s replacement in November, Foyth has been a forgotten man. Mourinho has given him just three games in a Spurs shirt.

Japhet Tanganga has seemingly leapfrogged Foyth in the pecking order, and Mourinho likely won’t stand in his way if he wants to leave this summer.

In fact, Mundo Deportivo have gone one step further. They claim that Spurs have offered Foyth to Barcelona, in the hope of selling him.

Now, agent Claudio Curti has commented on the situation. He has admitted that he doesn’t think Foyth will be staying at Spurs, but will wait until talks with Spurs to finalise that decision.

Curti added that Foyth needs more minutes, and believed he could well play for Barcelona – but the speculation right now has little substance to it as thing stand.

“For what has happened in recent times, we don’t think so,” said Curti. “But we still have a pending talk with Tottenham to clarify the future. We don’t judge the coach’s decisions and we don’t get involved in his job, but what’s clear is that the club’s project with Juan has changed. We have a pending chat with Tottenham and for sure the topic will come up. If he can’t have minutes in Tottenham we will have to look at the best options for him to develop and play anywhere else.

“Juan is grateful to Tottenham, but he needs to have more minutes to grow as a player and he also needs to hold his place in the national team. The only way to do that is to compete. Surely he is not happy, but he is a professional, and he will finish the season in the best way.”

“For now, they are just rumours. I have no doubt that he can play in Barcelona, his characteristics are ideal. He still has to keep growing. We have been consulted by several teams for him and his situation at Tottenham,” he added when asked about Barcelona.
