Kia Joorabchian has claimed that Corinthians Instagram ‘crashed’ after they signed Willian from Arsenal, as he told talkSPORT (31/08/21 at 11:55 am).

Sky Sports reported that Willian ripped up his Arsenal contract before deadline day and was happy to give up around £20 million that was owed to him by the club.

Things just didn’t work out for Willian in North London and the writing was on the wall for him to leave the club this summer.

It seems as though the 33-year-old went willingly and has opted to return home to Corinthians where it all started for the winger.

But Willian’s agent has shared that ‘millions’ tried to get a glimpse of his client on Instagram live, but because so many were accessing Corinthians’ feed, it ‘crashed’.

“Corinthians in Brazil is absolutely loving the fact that he is coming home,” said Joorabchian. “He started his career there as a child when he was 12.

“That is a perfect marriage. You have got 40 million fans approximately.

“Last night, he tried to do a live Instagram and the entire Instagram crashed because there were millions of people trying to get on at the same time. Corinthians’ Instagram crashed.”

This was the right move for all parties and it’s a signing that shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

It’s not like Willian was pulling up trees when he swapped Chelsea for Arsenal, but those from North London have picked up a bad habit of signing ageing players from Stamford Bridge of late.

Whilst there are a lot of question marks as to what is happening at Arsenal this summer, at least they weren’t looking at Chelsea players, and instead, looking to sign youngsters for the future.
