Leeds United’s Marcus Antonsson looks set for a summer move.
The agent of Leeds United striker Marcus Antonsson has told Fotboll Direkt that there is great interest in his client’s signature this summer.
The Whites swooped to land Antonsson in the summer of 2016, having seen him star with Kalmar in his native Sweden with 25 goals in 46 appearances.
Teaming up with fellow Swede Pontus Jansson at Elland Road was supposed to be ideal for the striker, but Antonsson hit just three goals in 21 games last season.
Leeds brought in Thomas Christiansen as their new manager last summer, and with first-team football hard to come by, Antonsson moved out on loan to Blackburn Rovers.
The 27-year-old hitman hit seven goals and three assists in 31 League One appearances as he helped Blackburn win promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking.
Antonsson returns to Elland Road this summer, but it could be a very brief trip back to West Yorkshire as there is alleged interest from other clubs this summer.
Antonsson’s agent Anders Karlsson has now told Fotboll Direkt in Sweden that there is ‘great’ interest from clubs but Leeds’ intentions aren’t yet known, and the situation should be clearer in a month.
“Yes, interest is great for Marcus but today we do not know what Leeds wants and he has a year left on the contract,” said Karlsson. “In a month, I think we know more,” he added.
The report claims that Hammarby and Malmo are particularly interested in signing Antonsson and bringing him back to Sweden, though Blackburn are unlikely to pursue another deal for him this summer.
