Arsenal grabbed all the headlines on deadline day last Monday, as they secured the signing of long-term target Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid.

The Ghanaian completed his big-money move in the final stages of the international window, giving Mikel Arteta a proven star to build around in midfield.

Arsenal have also done plenty of work picking up players for the future though, with a whole raft of young talents signed up for the development ranks.

George Lewis, Tim Akinola, Jonathan Dinzeyi, Nikolaj Duus-Moller and Salah-Eddine have all joined Arsenal, whilst Omar Rekik is arriving in January.

Another youngster joined last week, as speedy winger Joel Ideho arrived from Ajax, penning a professional deal in a move which didn’t gather much attention given that Partey had arrived just days earlier.

In the Netherlands though, Ideho’s move has caused a bit of a stir. The 17-year-old only joined Ajax from Willem II earlier in the summer, but already chose to leave for Arsenal in a shock switch.

Ajax Showtime have spoken to Ideho’s agent, Bart van Meel, who claims that Ideho has made the move because another unknown agent was working on Arsenal’s behalf and convinced the teenager to ditch Ajax and head to North London.

Van Meel is unhappy with this, believing that Ideho should have stayed at Ajax rather than heading on to Arsenal, and seems annoyed that Ideho took the advice of this new agent over his own.

This report also notes that Ajax weren’t prepared to give Ideho a professional deal, believing that he still had to develop following his move from Willem II.

Even when Arsenal came forward with an offer, Ajax didn’t budge, and let Ideho move on to the Gunners in a move that seems a touch controversial over in Amsterdam.
