West Ham United are likely to be in the market for a right back this summer – and Gonzalo Montiel could be a target.
The Hammers have seen Ryan Fredericks blow hot and cold, whilst Pablo Zabaleta is likely to move on when his contract ends this summer.
Jeremy Ngakia has been welcome surprise, but David Moyes may be tempted to bring in another option there.
One name heavily linked is Montiel. El Intransigente reported in February that West Ham had considered activating the River Plate star’s £18million release clause in January.
No deal went through, and with the global pandemic hitting since then, it’s hard to see that kind of money being spent now.
West Ham ace Manuel Lanzini has though praised Montiel. He told Closs Confidential just days ago that he knew West Ham wanted his compatriot, and they had even talked about joining forces.

Now, agent Marcelo Carracedo has admitted to Clarin that West Ham were keen, and remain in the race for the 23-year-old.
Yet Carracedo added that much will depend on how the Premier League season ends, and when West Ham can actual resume talks.
“They had already been interested in Gonzalo and continue to be, so they may appear in one of the upcoming markets,” said Carracedo. “Now they have to see how the team ends this tournament and then resume negotiations,” he added.
