Gabby Agbonlahor has stated on Twitter that he ‘can’t believe’ Aston Villa fans are ‘complaining’ about recent results because he feels both Leeds and Southampton will beat ‘loads of teams’ this season.
After four wins out of four, Villa have suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of newly-promoted Leeds and high-flying Southampton, who netted four over the weekend.
There’s no doubt that Dean Smith’s players deserved to be on the losing side of both games, as their defence showed its first signs of weakness.
Even though Agbonlahor has had his coming together with Leeds fans this season, he used them as an example in a positive light to send a message to seemingly disgruntled Villa supporters.
It needs to be remembered that Villa would have happily taken sitting in the top eight at this stage of the season before a ball was kicked.
Plus, the Midlands side also have a game in hand, and whilst it’s against Manchester City, they have proved this season that anything can happen.
For Villa, it’s about learning from their recent mistakes, getting on the front foot and doing what they love doing best because they can and will hurt many a team in the final third.
Along the way, there will be some bumpy roads because they are still in that building process, but if Villa are to get back into Europe in the long run then they need to be patient.
