TalkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor has said that Harry Maguire should leave Manchester United amid reported interest from Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.
The former Aston Villa striker has said on talkSPORT (6:49am, August 2, 2023) that Harry Maguire should leave Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
Harry Maguire told to leave Manchester United amid Aston Villa interest
Agbonlahor has noted that the £200,000-a-week (SalarySport) England international defender is no longer the United captain.
The former Leicester City defender has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
Football Transfers reported in June that Villa are interested in signing Maguire from Premier League rivals United in the summer transfer window.
Former Villa and United striker Dwight Yorke said last month that Villa Park “would be a great destination for Maguire”.

Agbonlahor said: “I still think Harry needs to leave. The captaincy has been taken away from him.
“Why would you stay when you are not a regular? Lindelof probably plays before him as well. I would leave if I am Harry Maguire.”
Maguire struggled to play regularly for Manchester United last season, and it is hard to see the defender get much playing time under manager Erik ten Hag this time around.
The 30-year-old made only eight starts and eight substitute appearances in the Premier League and made three starts and four substitute appearances in the UEFA Europa League for the Red Devils last season.
We believe that Maguire should seriously consider a move to Villa, if indeed the Villans make an offer.
Villa are a big and established club in the Premier League who are going places under manager Unai Emery.
True, the Villans will not play in the UEFA Champions League next season and are not going to challenge for the Premier League title, but they are an ambitious club and Maguire could flourish under Emery.
Although Villa have signed Pau Torres in the summer transfer window, there is room for another top defender in the squad.
Maguire has extensive experience, and he could get into the Villa first team ahead of the likes of Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings, Diego Carlos and Kortney Hause, who could leave anyway.
Of course, Maguire would have to fight for his place in the Villa starting lineup, but he should back himself to get into the team.
Maguire is better than Konsa and is ahead of Mings in the England set-up.
Carlos had a long-term injury last season, and it will be interesting to see whether he gets back to his best.
