Gabby Agbonlahor has stated that Declan Rice could sign for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and he thinks the midfielder is better than Arsenal’s Thomas Partey.

The West Ham United captain is expected to depart the London Stadium during the summer transfer window, with clubs up and down the land keen to take him on board.

Rice came through at Chelsea, but he was let go during his teen years, so could a return to transfer-crazy Stamford Bridge be on the cards?

Or will the ever-progressing Erik ten Hag want to sign the hard-hitting midfielder? Perhaps the potential soon-to-be champions of England, in Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, will have the biggest pulling power?

Either way, Rice has a very big call to make in a few months, but one thing is for sure, he is ready for the step up.

And former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor thinks a transfer to Liverpool could be on the cards, as he told talkSPORT (08/02/23).

“What I do like about Declan (Rice) though is the way he breaks up play,” said Agbonlahor. “Running with the ball. I love centre-midfielders, who get it and win it back, and sometimes they don’t play the easy pass, he’s running forward to try and get his team on the attack.

“But you would have to say Casemiro, at the moment (is better than Rice). But I agree with that Declan Rice over Thomas Partey.

“Where do you think Declan Rice would go? He’s not going to go to Chelsea because they have Fernandez now. Liverpool? They could be in for Declan Rice. He’s a likeable guy.”

RICE SHOULD JOIN A TEAM IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TEAM

Yes, West Ham are in a relegation battle this season, but they have been in Europe in recent times.

So, if Rice were to leave, then it’s only best that he heads for a ready-made team and one that it’s in the Champions League.

The issue for Liverpool is that they might not be able to provide him with that, and whilst they very much need him, he needs to go straight to a team already competing alongside the elite, or else, there is no point leaving the London Stadium.
