Gabby Agbonlahor has reacted on Instagram to rumours that Manchester United are close to signing Donny van de Beek – a move which could favour Aston Villa’s, Jack Grealish.

When Sky Sports posted on their Instagram account about the Van de Beek story, Agbonlahor wrote underneath in the comments section, “Good leave our Jack alone.”

If Van de Beek does complete his expected move to Old Trafford [Sky Sports] then Villa fans may be able to breathe a sigh of relief.

United have been interested in Villa’s playmaker for some while now and they even recently offered goalkeeper Sergio Romero as part of a potential deal, as reported by The Daily Mail.

But if Van de Beek does arrive then he would add more bite, and most importantly, strength to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield and it begs the question why the club would then need to push for Grealish’s signature.

Even if the recently called up England international would want to leave Villa, they would have to pay a big fee for his signature because of what he means to his boyhood club in terms of value and how he nearly single-handedly kept them up last term.

Therefore, the Villa Park faithful will be hoping that those at Old Trafford will be happy with the depth they have in the middle park now.

If that’s the case then Grealish would spend at least another season in the Midlands, which boots his side’s chances of staying up and pushing on ahead of the new campaign.

Van de Beek has more to his game than Grealish, he controls matches a lot better, he has more defensive qualities and his range of passing is better than the Englishman’s – it could be the case that United have got the better deal here and, one thing is for sure, those at Villa will be pleased that they have.
