Julian Ward is leaving Liverpool, and that may mean that Jurgen Klopp plays a bigger part in Liverpool’s recruitment process.
For quite some time, the Reds have operated with a Sporting Director making most of the big transfer calls aided by Klopp, but now, it seems as though the manager may end up being the top dog when it comes to choosing new signings.
Indeed, Neil Jones stated on Redmen TV this week that a manager-led approach is very possible.
“Are we going to a manager-led policy? I think that’s the most obvious conclusion to draw, and that’s interesting. Jurgen knows a player and he has sway, but it’s interesting that it’s a lot of responsibility for someone who has a lot of his shoulders,” Jones said.

So, if Klopp is going to take charge of transfers, who is he going to target?
Well, that remains to be seen, but it would be fair to infer that he would be keen for the club to persist with their reported interest in World Cup star, Jude Bellingham.
Indeed, it’s no secret that Klopp is a fan of Bellingham, stating over the summer that the only problem with Bellingham is the fact that he’s not on the market.
“He’s not on the market, so that’s the first problem with that player,” Klopp said.
“Well, that’s the only problem with that player.”
Klopp clearly thinks that Bellingham is a player with very few flaws, and with the midfielder reportedly set to come onto the market next summer, it is logical to believe that the German will be looking into this deal if he is indeed handed the recruitment reins at Anfield.
It will be interesting to see how Liverpool operate going forward, but if Klopp is given a prominent role in recruiting players, Bellingham may be one of his top priorities.
