Everton are reportedly keen on signing the Roma midfielder.

According to a report from French publication L’Equipe, Everton are in talks to sign Roma ace Maxime Gonalons on loan, but the Frenchman would be a really underwhelming signing for the Toffees.
At 30-years-old, the Frenchman is arguably already past his best, and adjusting to the intense nature of the Premier League at this late stage of his career really would be asking a lot.
Everton have plenty of useful options in the middle of the park including the likes of Idrissa Gueye, Morgan Schneiderlin and Tom Davies – all arguably better than the Roma man.
Gonalons is a deep-lying defensive midfielder by trade, and the Merseyside outfit already have enough combative ball-winners amongst their ranks.
Marco Silva really needs to add more creativity and guile to his options at Everton, if he is to guide them into the mix for the top six next season.
The Merseyside outfit seem to rely too heavily upon Gylfi Sigurdsson to create chances, and the addition of an established number 10 is surely a more pressing priority for them this summer.

The Roma midfielder, who spent this past season on loan with Sevilla, is a decent player, and has earned seven international caps for France, but he is not the man to help take the Toffees to another level.
Everton should look elsewhere this summer.
