With Mike Ashley looking to sell the club prior to Christmas, Newcastle could target Michy Batshuayi as a potential January signing.

After registering interest in bringing the Belgian to St James’ Park on loan in the summer (Chronicle Live), Newcastle United should look to bring in Michy Batshuayi in January as the ideal post-takeover signing.
With Mike Ashley currently in takeover talks as he looks to sell the club before Christmas, Rafa Benitez has been promised additional funds in January (Daily Star) as he looks to guarantee survival early and build on a solid start to the season.

The Belgian forward has made just two starts and five substitute appearances for Chelsea this term, scoring two goals in 196 minutes and could be sent out on loan in January to get some first-team action.
Batshuayi might be just the man Newcastle need to push their season on, with the absence of a regular goal threat the only thing holding them back from climbing up the table.

No player has scored more than two goals for The Magpies this term, with attacking quartet Aleksandar Mitrovic, Ayoze Perez, Joselu and Dwight Gayle scoring just six goals between them all season.
With his pace, strength and excellent link-up play, Batshuayi would offer an upgrade to Dwight Gayle – if the Magpies can convince the Belgian to leave his role as the Premier League champions’ back up striker, whilst allowing Newcastle to offload at least one striker and free up wages for further January signings.
