Celtic attempted to sign Manchester City defender Jason Denayer last summer.

Celtic have blitzed their way to another Scottish Premiership title, but Brendan Rodgers will still be keen on adding new faces to his squad this summer.
The Bhoys clinched a seventh straight title with a 5-0 win over Rangers on Sunday, and with the Scottish Cup final to come, it could be a second straight treble for Rodgers.
The next challenge for Celtic would be to succeed in Europe, and signing another defender may be needed for that – even after landing Jack Hendry and Marvin Compper in January.
One player Rodgers targeted to boost his back line last summer was Manchester City’s Jason Denayer, but as reported by the Daily Record, he turned down a move to the Bhoys in order to join Galatasaray.

The 22-year-old Belgian hasn’t enjoyed the greatest campaign in Turkey, starting just 14 games all season and only six in 2018, though he is working his way back to form with a host of appearances of late.
Denayer is set to return to Manchester City this summer, but it’s clear that he has no future at the Etihad Stadium, and a new move from Celtic to bring him back to Glasgow should at least be considered.
Denayer enjoyed a superb loan spell with Celtic during the 2014-15 season, and with moves to Galatasaray and Sunderland not producing much success, Denayer may need to accept that staying with the Bhoys can help him kick on at a crucial time in his career.
The centre back needs first-team football, and whilst being snubbed by him last summer may hurt, Celtic should consider one final attempt to bring Denayer back to Celtic Park on a permanent basis.
