Fabrizio Romano has given an exciting update to Everton fans regarding yet another midfield addition this summer.
The Toffees are clearly aiming for a new and solid midfield for next season. Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly worked his magic to bring in two top-quality midfielders in Napoli’s Allan and Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez.
Sky Sports today confirmed both of Ancelotti’s former players have arrived in the UK for a medical, with an announcement imminent.
Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure is another midfielder Everton have been linked with for a while. The Daily Mail claimed last month talks were ongoing between the two clubs over a deal for the Frenchman and it now looks like Everton are close.
Romano took to Twitter earlier today to reveal Everton are just “one step away” from sealing a deal for Doucoure.
What a transfer window for Everton!
That would be a remarkable transfer window for the Toffees. Allan and Rodriguez have worked with Ancelotti before and the Italian will know how to get the best out of both.
The Real Madrid man will offer some much-needed creativity from attacking midfield, something Everton seriously lacked last season as Gylfi Sigurdsson’s form dipped.
Allan will provide the solidity in midfield the Toffees have missed since Idrissa Gueye left the club for PSG. The Brazilian is good with the ball at his feet too and can initiate attacks from deep.

Doucoure is the final piece in the puzzle. The Watford man knows the Premier League well having played in England for more than four years. The Frenchman can play anywhere across central midfield and his driving runs would certainly be a weapon for Everton.
A completely new midfield would take time to adjust but the trio could make Everton a dangerous side next term.
Ancelotti will be aiming for a top-seven finish in the league but, with the amount of quality they are expected to bring in, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they give the top six a run for their money.
