The experienced ‘keeper would be a useful option for Liverpool on a free, having been released by Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool kicked off their Premier League campaign in fine fashion, beating Norwich City 4-1 at Anfield on Friday night.

It wasn’t all good news for the Reds, however.

Alisson suffered a calf injury, and the Mirror claims that it could keep him out of action for around six weeks.

Liverpool do have Adrian in reserve, but Jurgen Klopp will surely be scouring the market for another back-up stopper.

And a useful option for them could be free agent Michel Vorm, who was released by Tottenham earlier this summer.

The 35-year-old Dutchman is an incredibly reliable, consistent performer, and Klopp could do a lot worse than the former Spurs man.

Vorm is a fine shot-stopper, and he commands his area with authority. He is an experienced head who has experience of playing for a big club, having spent five years at Tottenham.

He is also decent with the ball at his feet – something that is vital for any goalkeeper who plays under Klopp.

The free agent would provide adequate back-up for Adrian while Alisson is out injured, and he would be an incredibly cheap, useful option for Liverpool.

Whether Klopp believes he would be better off promoting someone for his youth ranks, however, to cover for the Spaniard over the next six weeks or so remains to be seen.

At 35, Vorm still has a lot to give, and bringing him to Anfield on a short-term deal seems to be an absolute no-brainer for Liverpool.
