Losing Billy Gilmour to Chelsea continues to be a source of frustration at Rangers.

Rangers tried desperately to keep hold of young talent Billy Gilmour before he quit the club last summer.
Gilmour was tempted away from Ibrox by Chelsea and starred as the young Blues’ under-18 side won last season’s FA Youth Cup.
Gilmour showed Rangers what the missed out on by starring for Scotland at the Toulon Tournament in the summer, and he has begun 2018/19 with a flourish.
The Scotland international in waiting has been called up to Chelsea’s under-23 side, at just 17, and is making an impact.
Gilmour made his first start for the under-23s this week against Blackburn, and immediately showed why, scoring the opening goal in a 3-0 win.

Starting – and scoring – for the under-23s is another milestone Gilmour can tick off in terms of his development as he bids to show he was right to quit Rangers for Chelsea, even though so few talented academy players make the grade at the Blues.
At Rangers he was featuring for the under-20s at just 15, and there were even calls to get him involved in the first team.
Gilmour delayed his senior debut by leaving Rangers for Chelsea, but it can only be a matter of time before the Blues decide to give him a call up if he continues to star for the under-23s this season.
