The Borussia Dortmund star famously claimed he would never join Tottenham Hotspur after failed negotiations in 2012.
Dortmund’s Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Tottenham Hotspur are already assured of their place in the next round of the Champions League, so the tie with Borussia Dortmund this Tuesday is something of a dead rubber.
Dortmund will be hoping to get a win, as they battle to secure third and assure themselves of a place in next season’s Europa League.
The news that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be available is a big plus for the German side. He was missing from the recent tie against VfB Stuttgart after being placed under club suspension. It came after an apparently unsanctioned video shoot and one year after another club ban on the Gabon striker.

His long-term future does not appear to be at Dortmund and he is exactly the type of player Spurs would love to bring in to go to the next level.
Aubameyang however has made it clear in the past that he will never join Tottenham. Speaking last year, as quoted by Sky Sports, he suggested a move to Tottenham would never happen after previous negotiations with the North London club collapsed in 2012:
“If Spurs ever came back in me for me, I’d say no.
“In the end everything became a bit weird, I didn’t really like the way things were done.”

Aubameyang is without doubt one of the top strikers in world football. However, off the field issues have been a problem in recent times at Dortmund and a move to Paris Saint-Germain collapsed in the summer.
Tottenham would undoubtedly love to be his next destination but instead fans at Spurs will just have to enjoy him as a rival this week, before he surely sets foot somewhere else when his Dortmund days finally end.
