Everton and Watford missed out on Lovre Kalinic this summer.
Lovre Kalinic of KAA Gent
Gent goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic has been quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying that he has interest from Everton and Watford over the summer, but he wasn’t interested.
Kalinic, 27, starred in his native Croatia with Hajduk Split, becoming one of the best goalkeepers in his homeland before making a move to Gent in January of this year.
The shot stopper has also impressed for Gent, particularly in their Europa League win over Tottenham Hotspur last season, which sparked Premier League rumours.

The Sun reported back in February that Everton, Southampton and West Ham United all scouted Kalinic in action ahead of possible move to sign him, but Gent managed to keep hold of him this summer.
Now, with no deal completed before last month’s transfer deadline, Kalinic has discussed the interest in him, particularly from Everton and Watford.
As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, Kalinic has admitted that Everton and Watford wanted to sign him, but he told his agent that he wasn’t interested in a move to the Premier League just yet as he only just joined Gent at the start of the year.
Kalinic added that he is still dreaming of the Premier League, and could make a move to England next summer or in four years, as he is in no rush to make the jump to the Premier League just yet.

“I know that Everton and Watford wanted me,” said Kalinic. “But I never talked to anyone about it. Besides, I’ve even told my agent that I do not have to know such things because I have another four-year contract at Gent.”
“Of course I’m still dreaming of the Premier League, but I’m never going to put pressure on my agent or club. Like everyone else, I’m following my own path – I’m not old yet. Maybe I’ll go to the Premier League next summer, or in four years, or never. That’s also possible,” he added.
Everton’s big-money deal for Jordan Pickford suggests that he will be first-choice goalkeeper at Goodison Park for the foreseeable future, but with Heurelho Gomes ageing and Orestis Karnezis only on loan, Watford could be back in the market for Kalinic in the future.
