After Moreno’s Sevilla display will Robertson get Liverpool chance?

Following Alberto Moreno’s awful performance at Sevilla is it time for Andrew Robertson to finally be given his chance at Liverpool?

There were many issues on show for Liverpool as they threw away a 3-0 lead at Sevilla in the Champions League to eventually draw the match 3-3.

However, one of the key problems was something that is far from new, with Alberto Moreno directly at fault for two of the goals after giving away clumsy fouls for a free-kick that provided the assist for the first and for the penalty from which the second was scored.

Only 24 hours before Moreno’s calamitous night against his former team, manager Jurgen Klopp had been praising the left-back for his turnaround in form after being dropped for much of last season and James Milner playing out of position in the Spaniard’s role.

“I felt that it was unfair after the season. I thought ‘damn, we didn’t use him often enough’,” Klopp told the club’s official website.

“Before the season, he came to my office and asked again, and I told him we (would) get another full-back, but it was not the plan for Milly [Milner] to be in the full-back race again, so you decide what happens – and he decided it.

“How he reacted on last year is really, really good. He’s now a much better defender. That’s how it is; he’s a brilliant footballer.”

Well clearly Klopp was not impressed with Moreno in Seville, taking the 25-year-old off after 63 minutes following his mistakes and bringing on Milner.

However, ahead of a huge Premier League clash with Chelsea on Saturday (November 25) is it time for the German to give an opportunity to that new full-back that he did sign – Andrew Robertson?

Robertson admitted his frustration to the BBC last month having played just three times in all competitions for the Reds following a summer switch from Hull City.

On the international stage with Scotland the 23-year-old has been praised for his performances this season, but Klopp has not used the defender since the 2-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Leicester City on September 19.

Yet with Moreno once again in poor form and Milner supposedly no longer being considered at the back, surely it is time for Robertson to get his opportunity? Starting against the Blues at the weekend.
