Paris Saint-Germain are demanding £5 million for Edouard Michut as Celtic continue to strengthen a squad that dominated the Scottish Premiership last season, as reported by The Athletic.
If 2021 was the year of revolution, then evolution was supposed to be 2022’s buzzword. A lick of paint here and there. The careful fine-tuning of a title-winning squad. Quality, over quantity.
Few would have imagined, then, that Celtic would be on the verge of completing signings six and seven with their Premiership opener against Aberdeen still a fortnight away.
The versatile Moritz Jenz is arriving on loan from Ligue 1 outfit Lorient. A right-back or a centre-half, Jenz will give Postecoglou plenty of options at the back.
Aaron Mooy looks set to follow in the Berlin-born defender’s footsteps, undergoing a medical in Glasgow on Monday. Mooy, once one of the Premier League’s most cultured playmakers, is set to reunite with his former Australia boss Ange Postecoglou north of the border (Scottish Sun).
Mooy, like Jenz, will not cost Celtic a single penny in transfer fees. The 31-year-old is currently without a club, having terminated his contract with Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai Port.
Aaron Mooy and Moritz Jenz heading to Celtic but will Edouard Michut follow?

This means, in theory, the Hoops still have plenty of funds remaining as the Glasgow giants eye up one of Europe’s most exciting young midfielders.
Fabrizio Romano reported last week that Celtic were in advanced talks with 19-year-old Michut. They were prepared to pay around £2 million for a teenager dubbed the second coming of Marco Verratti by some.
PSG are unlikely to let a player of such vast potential leave for such a fee, however. The Athletic believe that Les Parisiens want £5 million, plus a 25 per cent sell-on clause included in Michut’s contract.
Tellingly, Celtic appear to have placed this particular deal on the backburner. £5 million is a rather exorbitant fee for an unproven footballer with just 67 minutes of first-team football under his belt.
Then again, Celtic have reaped plenty of rewards in the past when signing fresh-faced talents from clubs unable to offer then regular first-team football. Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard didn’t do too badly after swapping the French capital for Glasgow’s East End after all.
