Leeds United are believed to be interested in Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford.

After missing out on David Nugent to Derby County, Leeds United now need to make sure that they snap up Patrick Bamford.

Leeds had identified Nugent as a potential transfer target in the January transfer window, according to The Sun, and the veteran forward could have been a good option for Garry Monk’s side, as they aim for promotion from the Championship.

However, the one-time England international has opted to move to Derby, leaving Leeds to look elsewhere for a striker.

The Whites have been linked with West Ham United’s Ashley Fletcher (The Sun), but it is Bamford who should be at the top of their transfer wishlist.

Norwich City's Patrick Bamford

Leeds are said to be interested signing Bamford on loan from Chelsea (The Telegraph), and he would be an astute addition to their squad.

Although Bamford has struggled to make an impact at Premier League level, he has proven to be a prolific scorer in the Championship before.

Bamford has scored goals for Derby County and Middlesbrough during his time in the second tier – and he would arrive at Elland Road with a point to prove.

Norwich's Patrick Bamford

Bamford has barely been used by Crystal Palace, Norwich City and Burnley in the past two seasons at Premier League level, but he could show them all exactly what they have been missing if he was to hit form at Leeds.

Bamford has previously scored 17 goals in a season at Championship with Middlesbrough, and a player with that sort of record should not be overlooked by Leeds if he is available.
