RB Leipzig has trolled Tottenham Hotspur on Twitter after Timo Werner joined Chelsea.

As announced on Chelsea’s official website, Werner will move to the Blues in the summer transfer window.

It has been stated that the striker will stay at RB Leipzig until the end of the Bundesliga season, and that the 24-year-old Germany international has agreed personal terms with the Blues.

Leipzig have trolled Tottenham on Twitter by posting a video of his goal against the North London outfit for the German club, referring to the rivalry between Spurs and Chelsea.

The German club signed Werner from Stuttgart in 2016 for a transfer fee reported by ESPN to be worth €10 million (£9.03 million) and have sold him to Chelsea for £47.5 million, as reported by The Telegraph, making a profit of £38.5 million on the striker.

Top-four battle

While Werner will make Chelsea a very strong team next season, it remains to be seen if the Blues and Spurs will make into the top four of the Premier League table this season.

Frank Lampard’s side are fourth in the league standings at the moment with 48 points from 29 matches.

As for Tottenham, Jose Mourinho’s side currently find themselves eighth in the table with 41 points from 29 matches.

Manchester United, Sheffield United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City are also challenging for the Champions League places.
