Rangers should attempt to bring the Crystal Palace midfielder to Ibrox this summer.
Crystal Palace completed the £11 million signing of Cheikhou Kouyaté yesterday, and the Senegalese’s arrival at Slehurst Park could present Rangers with the opportunity to bring James McArthur to Ibrox this summer.
The 30-year-old is a boyhood Gers fan, and he could surely be tempted into joining Gerrard’s revolution at Ibrox this season.
He could find his playing time limited at Palace, following the arrival of Kouyate, and Rangers should attempt to take advantage of that fact with a swoop for the midfielder.
The Daily Record reported way back in November last year that McArthur might be tempted into joining Rangers, although it is unclear as to whether the Glasgow giants could actually afford the Palace man.
The Scotland international joined the Eagles from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £7 million, and with two years still remaining on his current contract with the south London club, it might take a similar fee to prise him away from Selhurst Park.
McArthur is a tenacious central midfielder, and he possesses the kind of quality that would undoubtedly help Rangers make the jump up to the next level.
The Gers have a long way to go, if they are to close the gap on Celtic, but bringing someone like the Crystal Palace man into the club would be a great place to start.
