Emil Bohinen looks set to be on his way to France this summer with Leeds United missing out on a player they were keen to bring to Elland Road, as reported by VG.
It is an exciting time to be a Norwegian.
The poor relations of Scandinavian football have suddenly put together one of the most exciting crop of youngsters in European football, with Erling Haaland, Kristoffer Ajer, Sander Berge and Martin Odegaard making waves all across the continent.
And Bohinen, the 21-year-old son of former Derby and Nottingham Forest midfielder Lars, looks set to follow in their footsteps.
Budstikka reported back in December that Leeds held talks with the dynamic midfielder, who also found himself on the radar of local rivals Sheffield United. The Yorkshire Evening Post then backed up those claims a month later.
But while Leeds are on the verge of a long-awaited return to the Premier League, the smart money is now on Bohinen honing his talents on the other side of the Channel.
“There are French clubs that are interested in him,” admits Stabaek director Jon Tunold, speaking to VG.

“Yes, I am speaking with four to five clubs in France,” Bohinen’s agent adds in conversation with FootMercato.
“Our priority is to find the right club for the next step in Emil’s career. We are thoroughly studying all possibilities.
“Emil is ready for the big jump.”
With four goals and eight assists in all competitions for Stabaek last season, Bohinen’s mix of speed, skill and technical ability appeared to make him a perfect fit for ‘Bielsaball’.
But Leeds appear to have a mountain to climb with the youngster packing his backs for France.
