The Tottenham Hotspur teenager needs to kick on over the next 12 months.
In the previous January transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur pulled off something of a coup by securing the signing of Shilow Tracey from Ebbsfleet United.
Just 12 months on from bringing lower league sensation Dele Alli to White Hart Lane, it seemed Tottenham had done it again, although there was a stark difference between the former MK Dons sensation and the non-league starlet making his first tentative steps in the game.
That said big things were expected of Tracey, who has had a steady if unremarkable start to life in North London.
The 18-year-old began life with Tottenham’s under-18s before moving into the under-23s, and if he has proved one thing it is his versatility.
Tracey arrived at the club with a reputation as an attacking midfielder, and it is there that he is likely to excel long term. However, that has not stopped him playing all over the place – even at right-back – as he learns the ropes at Spurs.
A recent brace against Sunderland for Tottenham’s under-23s suggests he has definitely found his feet, while his raw pace and energy means he will cause opponents all sorts of problems in the years ahead.
While Tracey’s first 12 months at Tottenham were all about settling in, the next year will be about making the step up; playing consistently for the second string before seizing any chances that come his way just as the likes of Josh Onomah and Harry Winks did before him.
