Rangers could strike up a relationship with Mexican side Chivas.

Rangers could be poised for a link-up with Mexican side Chivas Guadalajara, after their chief executive took to Twitter to comment on a ‘great relationship’ with the Scottish side.

The Gers brought in manager Pedro Caixinha as Mark Warburton’s replacement back in March, and he arrived having previously managed in Mexico with Santos Laguna.

Caixinha won 54 of his 121 games in charge of Santos Laguna before moving on to Al-Gharafa and now Rangers, but he has used his time in Mexico to aid his work at Ibrox.

Over the summer, Caixinha brought in two players from Mexico, as internationals Carlos Pena and Eduardo Herrera arrived from Chivas Guadalajara and UNAM respectively, having worked alongside Herrera and seen Pena excel against him.

Neither player has really excelled so far in Glasgow, but Rangers could in fact strengthen their links in Mexico, after Caixinha was photographed meeting an official from a Mexican club.

Chivas Guadalajara chief executive Jose Luis Higuera – who oversaw Pena’s exit to Rangers this summer – took to Twitter to post a photo alongside Caixinha, claiming he was striking up a ‘great relationship’ with Rangers, and wished both Herrera and Pena the best of luck during their time at Ibrox.

That will now spark rumours of a major link-up between the two clubs, where players could follow Pena to Glasgow as Caixinha looks to continue to use his connections in Mexico.

The likes of Orbelin Pineda, Alan Pulido and Isaac Brizuela are all major players for Chivas but could cost Rangers major money should Caixinha look to sign them, but this could be a fascinating relationship between the two clubs, if Higuera’s suggestions do lead to something more concrete.
