Juventus have now told Adrien Rabiot that he must accept a significant pay cut to stay with the Serie A side, after reported talks with Everton and Newcastle United over his transfer.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who note Bianconeri chiefs are giving thought to letting Rabiot stay in Turin beyond the season. Boss Massimiliano Allegri has continued to rely on the 27-year-old, but he enters the final year of his existing contract at the end of the term.
Rabiot has often failed to impress since joining the Allianz Stadium outfit in 2019 when his Paris Saint-Germain contract expired. Yet many at Juventus still believe in his potential and would afford him one last chance to fulfil their expectations, rather than looking to cash in.

But Juventus accept his performances do not merit the €7m-a-year (£112k-a/w) net salary he currently earns, before bonuses. So, the Old Lady have instructed Rabiot and his agent that he must accept a significant pay cut. The fee would be very far from his current wage.
If the Frenchman refuses, the Bianconeri would then look to attract offers starting at €15m (£12.5m) for his departure. The Serie A side attempted to sell the 26-cap star in January, as well. But despite his continued role in Turin and for Les Bleus, failed to find a willing buyer.
Juventus tell Rabiot to take significant pay cut after Everton, Newcastle talks
Everton and Newcastle are now sounding out the conditions to seal Rabiot’s transfer from Juventus this summer, however. But! Football Club report the Premier League teams have tested the water in recent months, while the Bianconeri have a likely replacement in mind.

The calibre of who arrives will depend on the funds the Allianz Stadium hierarchy can raise through departures. So, Juventus may bank on both Everton and Newcastle striving to seal a transfer for Rabiot – who Andrea Pirlo believes is a ‘complete’ midfielder – this summer.
