After two years of trying, Leeds United have finally signed Daniel James, and if this saga has taught us anything it’s that Bielsa always gets his man.
Bielsa has his targets, there are players he likes and once he has his heart set on someone he’ll make sure they end up at Elland Road.
Interestingly, James isn’t the only player Bielsa has chased for a long time, there’s another winger he’s wanted for over two years, and that man is Ryan Kent.
The Rangers ace is clearly a player Bielsa admires. In fact, he told Victor Orta earlier this year to go out and sign Kent, with the Argentine reportedly desperate to sign the Oldham-born attacker, so you can see just how much he likes him.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out why Bielsa likes Kent so much. He’s a dynamic winger who can play on either flank, while he’s also been described as ‘phenomenal’ recently.

It’s been over two years since the Yorkshire club were first linked with Kent, and as the James saga shows, the Argentine isn’t one to just give up on a player he wants.
As long as Bielsa is at Leeds, the Whites may continue to be linked with Kent and if Rangers’ resolve is tested every window, they may eventually cave in and sell the former Liverpool man.
Two years after failing to sign James, Leeds got their man, and with Bielsa being such a long-term fan of Kent and Orta being a shrewd negotiator on his behalf, don’t be surprised if the Rangers star ends up at Elland Road eventually.
