The Sporting Lisbon ace would be a sensational addition for Tottenham Hotspur.
A report emerged earlier this week from the Daily Mail claiming that Tottenham had pulled out of the race to sign Sporting Lisbon ace Bruno Fernandes.
A conflicting report came to light today, however, with Portuguese A Bola claiming that Spurs have renewed their interest in the Portugal international, with Christian Eriksen inching ever closer to an exit from the north London club.
The 24-year-old was in quite simply sensational form for Sporting last season, racking up an incredible 32 goals and 18 assists in 53 appearances in all competitions, and he really would be a sensational signing for Tottenham.
The attacking midfielder really is an elite talent, and Spurs are right not to give up on a player who could very well go on to become one of the world’s best players.
Tottenham sometimes lack a certain level of creativity and guile in the middle of the park, and they will need someone like Fernandes, if they are to challenge for the Premier League title next season, especially if Eriksen ends up leaving.
The Portuguese ace would be more than an able-bodied replacement for the Dane, although his price-tag might prove to be problematic for the north London club, with A Bola claiming that he will cost around £62 million.
Much will depend on whether Tottenham do actually sell Eriksen.
One thing’s for sure, however, Spurs should not give up on Fernandes just yet, and according to the latest round of reports, it seems as though they are far from out of the race to sign the talented 24-year-old.
