Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli bounced back from his terrible North London derby performance against Arsenal by inspiring a victory against Borussia Dortmund.

Alli was singled out for criticism after the 2-0 loss, with pundit Tony Cascarino telling The Times that he looked ‘totally disinterested.’

Against Dortmund he bounced back, getting the backing from his boss to start the Champions League clash in Germany.

Alli set up goals for both Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, landing two assists on his first away European game of the season.

Whether he was stung by criticism, or simply had an off day on Saturday, Alli is back on track.

It was the perfect riposte to his critics, who questioned both his attitude and the hype surrounding his talent.

For Alli it is not over, another poor display at the weekend against West Brom and the knives will be back out for him. What he needs is a consistency he has not been able to show yet this season.

Alli scored a brace in Tottenham’s first win of the season, and netted impressive goals in a big win over Liverpool and against Real Madrid.

But apart from that it has been low key for Alli. He showed against Dortmund that there is no real reason for fans to worry about him, but when he does go missing, the frustration is heightened because fans and pundits know what he is truly capable of.
