West Ham should make an ambitious move for Celtic’s Scott Sinclair.
West Ham are on the lookout for reinforcements in January as they bid to climb their way back up the Premier League table.
If they can do so, the ideal replacement could be Celtic’s in form winger Scott Sinclair who has a big point to prove.
Sinclair’s last season in England was a disaster; he struggled with Aston Villa as they were relegated, and has relaunched his career in Scotland.
Part of his Villa struggles were to do with a hangover from an even worse spell at Manchester City, where he was continuously overlooked.
At Celtic he is a player reborn. He has 11 goals and eight assists this season in 23 appearances for the club.
Since signing in 2016 he has netted 36 goals and provided 19 assists in 73 matches.
Critics will label Sinclair’s achievements as being due to the poor competition in the Scottish Premiership – but his goal in the Champions League against Anderlecht may suggest otherwise.
Despite his form, he has once again been overlooked by England boss Gareth Southgate, despite arguably being the most in form English player available.
Sinclair is 28, and he will never get a better chance to go to the World Cup.
If he can reproduce his form in England, then Southgate may reconsider.
Sinclair has already written his name in history in Scotland as part of Celtic’s invincible domestic 2016/17 season.
West Ham boss David Moyes should pay up to try and lure Sinclair to the East End of London, to join an impressive attack alongside Michail Antonio and Javier Hernandez.
