Fabrizio Romano has provided a fresh update on Georginio Wijnaldum’s contract situation at Liverpool amid interest from Barcelona.
The transfer specialist revealed that, after seven months of negotiations, the Reds have still not come to an agreement with the Netherlands international.
Romano states that Liverpool’s last offer came in December, and it has not yet been accepted by Wijnaldum – the use of the word yet is particularly intriguing.
Additionally, the Italian journalist said that things are getting complicated, with Jurgen Klopp’s side still waiting for an answer.
As you may know, while negotiations are continuing, the former Newcastle man is free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with a foreign side.

Romano’s update comes just days after the Mirror said that Wijnaldum had decided to link up with his old international coach Ronald Koeman at Barcelona.
In that report, it is said that the £25 million Liverpool man wants to follow in the footsteps of Dutch legends such as Johan Cruyff and Frank Rijkaard.
This is certainly a saga to keep an eye on.

It would be a real shame for Liverpool if they were to lose their No.5.
Wijnaldum has become somewhat of a cult hero for his two-goal display against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final.
Of course, his efforts at Anfield on that special day helped Liverpool lift their sixth major European title with a win against Tottenham in Madrid.
