Hassane Kamara has agreed to join Ligue 1 outfit Nice this summer despite Watford making a £4.5 million bid for the Reims defender last week, according to Nice-Matin.
With the Ligue 1 transfer window opening quicker than anywhere else in Europe, one of the richest clubs in France are wasting no time as they look to reinforce Patrick Vieira’s squad.
Since being taken over by British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe last summer, Nice have paid big to bring Kasper Dolberg, Adam Ounas and Alexis Claude-Maurice to the Rivieira.
Morgan Schneiderlin is expected to become their latest marquee signing with the underperforming Everton midfielder expected to undergo a medical on Monday.
By the time Scheiderlin is unveiled as a Nice player, Kamara could also be signing on the dotted line.
Nice-Matin reports that a deal has been agreed with the Reims left-back with Nice pipping Nigel Pearson’s Watford to the post.
Kamara has been linked with Brighton and Crystal Palace but, according to FootMercato, it was the Hornets who were leading the chase with a £4.5 million offer on the table.
But Watford appear to have missed out on the chance to sign a full-back they have been looking at since January.
And when you consider that 35-year-old Jose Holebas is due to become a free agent at the end of the season, this is a blow that Pearson and co could have done without.
