If Tottenham look to the Championship for summer additions, Leeds striker Chris Wood could be a strong option.

Vincent Janssen’s failure to step up at Tottenham Hotspur has been a big disappointment this season, with the Dutchman failing to score from open play.

Harry Kane’s heroics have kept the pressure off him, but this summer it is likely once again that the Lilywhites will be looking for an alternative in the transfer window.

They could do worse than consider a prolific Championship star who last week expressed his admiration for both Harry Kane and head coach Mauricio Pochettino, Leeds forward Chris Wood.

Wood has netted 20 league goals in 33 games for Leeds this season, performing similar heroics to Kane in single handedly firing his side to a top five four spot in their respective divisions.

The forward played alongside Kane when the Spurs youngster was on loan at Leicester, and told The Sun: “Harry Kane has had a manager in Pochettino who has backed him from day one and he’s worked so hard under him.”

The New Zealand international is enjoying similar faith from Leeds boss Garry Monk, and is flourishing as a result.

He has made no secret of his desire to get Leeds promoted and play in the Premier League with the Whites, but if they fall short, he could be tough for the club to hold onto after his prolific season.

Tottenham would have to spend big to land Wood, but he could be just what they are looking for.

He like Kane is capable of leading the line on his own, strong in the air, and has shown an ability to score in big matches, netting the winner over rivals Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.

Wood could have doubts over a switch over playing second fiddle to Kane, but getting the chance to play Champions League football would make a Tottenham move tough to turn down.
