Victoria Mboko sealed her spot in the Qatar Open final with a convincing win over Jelena Ostapenko.
Along the way, she has knocked off some notable names, including Elena Rybakina, Mirra Andreeva and Vera Zvonareva.
Mboko has already put together 13 wins from her first four tournaments of the year – more than anyone else on the WTA Tour right now.
And she is not just picking up wins. Alongside Andreeva, Mboko has matched a 17-year-old WTA record last set by Caroline Wozniacki and Victoria Azarenka.
Victoria Mboko breaks into WTA Top 10 alongside Mirra Andreeva
Mboko’s run to the Qatar Open final has guaranteed her a spot in the WTA top 10 for the first time in her career.
The Canadian teenager has earned 640 points from the tournament, moving ahead of Ekaterina Alexandrova, Belinda Bencic, and her final opponent Karolina Muchova.
Mboko now joins fellow teenager Andreeva in the top 10, something that hasn’t happened since 2009.
The last time two teenagers were ranked in the top 10 was when Caroline Wozniacki and Victoria Azarenka were climbing up the rankings.
Mboko and Andreeva are now following a path set by proven champions. Both Azarenka and Wozniacki went on to win major titles after breaking into the top tier as teenagers.
Azarenka went back-to-back at the Australian Open in 2012 and 2013, while Wozniacki captured her own Melbourne crown six years later.
How Victoria Mboko unexpectedly climbed the WTA Rankings

Mboko’s climb into the top 10 is nothing short of remarkable, especially given her starting position just a year ago.
The Canadian began 2025 ranked World No. 333, and at this time last February, she was still outside the top 200.
Her breakthrough came early in the year when she put together a run of 22 straight wins without dropping a set on the ITF Tour.
She broke into the top 100 in June and then jumped to World No. 24 after capturing her first WTA title at home in Canada.
A title in Hong Kong, a final appearance at Adelaide International, and a round-of-16 showing at the Australian Open all contributed to her steady rise up the rankings.
The Qatar Open final may have pushed Mboko into the top ten, but there is plenty of evidence that she is not done climbing yet.
