The Torino player had been linked with a summer switch to Newcastle United but he has quashed reports of a done deal.

As reported by the Chronicle, Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah has taken to Twitter to dismiss claims he will be moving to Newcastle United in the current transfer window.
Quotes attributed to the 25-year-old suggested a deal was all but done, but it has now transpired that the player was misquoted, even if he does still aspire to one day play in England.
Writing on social media on Tuesday morning, the Ghanaian said, “Reports that I claimed a 90 per cent done deal to Newcastle (are) completely false. (I am) 100 per cent committed to Torino.”
Newcastle could certainly do with a number of reinforcements in key areas but it does seem as though they will not be signing Acquah any time soon.
The midfielder, who can play both centrally and on the right if required, has featured 53 times for Torino to date, scoring five goals and providing five assists in the process.

He has previously turned out for Palermo, Sampdoria and Parma and given the need for additional midfield options at St. James’ Park, his arrival would have been welcomed by those Newcastle fans who feel Jack Colback is not good enough for their starting XI.
Still, it seems Newcastle are looking at alternative options and only time will tell if this is the last we hear of Acquah and the Magpies in the same sentence.
