Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has posted on Instagram that Senegal have ‘one more game’ to make history ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations final clash against Egypt on Sunday.
Weeks after an all-action tournament in Cameroon, it’s going to be either Mane or Mohamed Salah that return to Liverpool with that invaluable medal around their neck.
Mane has been in better form than his teammate at the AFCON’s, with three goals and an assist to his name, but Salah has stepped up during pressure penalty shootout moments.
Either way, both teams have had some nerve-racking moments along the way, more so for Egypt, who lost their opening match and have been involved in two penalty shootout wins.
Either way, ahead of the game, Mane posted a blunt message to supporters and his teammates on Instagram.
“One more game to make the history forever boys,” said Mane. “Let’s do it. Go them Lions.”
Senegal will perhaps feel that they are the favourites going into tonight’s final because they have played the better football of the two sides.
But Egypt have proved that if this game becomes sluggish and goes into extra time, then they have the upper hand because of what they have experienced in this tournament.
Either way, one of Salah or Mane is set to create history with their respective country and already elevate their legendary status.
If it’s Mane, it will prove how far he has come during his career and how he has perhaps been an underappreciated figure in recent years.
Whilst Salah will probably all but prove that he is the best in the world if he can produce the magic in a few hours time.
