Rangers allowed Harry Forrester to leave Ibrox in August.

AFC Wimbledon picked up an impressive 3-1 win over Rotherham United on Tuesday night, with Rangers loanee Harry Forrester starring.

After a disappointing start to the season, Wimbledon beat Northampton Town over the weekend, and followed that up with a superb performance against promotion-chasing Rotherham.

Lyle Taylor hadn’t score since March before Tuesday’s clash, but not only did he end his 21-game goal drought, but he ended up scoring a hat-trick in the 3-1 win, scoring two late goals to cancel out Joe Newell’s equaliser.

Whilst Taylor will grab the headlines with his hat-trick, it seems that Dons fans were particularly impressed with the performance of playmaker Harry Forrester, who is currently on loan from Rangers.

Forrester, 26, was completely frozen out by Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha over the summer, and with seemingly no intention of ever letting him play for Rangers again, he let the playmaker join Wimbledon on a season-long loan deal.

After his performance against Rotherham, the official AFC Wimbledon Twitter account tweeted that Forrester had received a standing ovation from the home fans for his performance, summing up just how impressive he was on the night.

Forrester took to Twitter himself to comment on the win, congratulating hat-trick hero Taylor whilst admitting that there is nothing better than a win under the floodlights.

Despite Forrester’s impressive display, theere appears to be no chance of reconciliation between him and Caixinha, and the former Mark Warburton favourite will almost certainly leave Ibrox next summer, even with his contract only expiring in 2019.
