Reported Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur target Dayot Upamecano is being urged to stay at RB Leipzig by advisor Johannes Jahns amid speculation over his future, Sport1 report.

The central defender has been heavily linked with a move this summer.

According to Soccerlink, Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City head a list of Premier League teams keen on his signature.

Upamecano’s contract at Leipzig expires in 2021 and he has a £53 million release clause.

Leipzig have made it clear they will not allow their players to leave on a free transfer, suggesting that a summer sale is more than possible.

But his advisor Jahns believes he should remain in Leipzig.

“Upa currently has extremely good conditions to develop further. He plays at a very high level in Leipzig and I don’t really see any urgency for a change. He can still take the next step in a few years. Where he is playing now, he is in very good hands. And his development is far from over. He can also develop wonderfully in Leipzig,” Jahns explained.

Both Arsenal and Spurs will look to strengthen their defence this summer.

The Gunners have Sokratis and David Luiz in their thirties. Shkodran Mustafi, meanwhile, is unconvincing while Rob Holding lacks experience.

Tottenham, on the other hand, will look to replace Jan Vertonghen. The Belgium international is out of contract this summer and is expected to leave Spurs.

According to Sport1, Bayern Munich are also keen on Upamecano.

But if the French defender listens to his advisor, he could remain at the club. Leipzig’s season resumes this weekend with the club still in the hunt for the title.
