Some West Ham United fans aren’t overly bothered by the prospect of facing Gareth Bale for Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon.

East London plays host as the Irons take on Jose Mourinho’s side at noon.

West Ham could be coming up against Bale after The Daily Mail reported that the Tottenham boss could recall him to his first XI against David Moyes’s side.

The 31-year-old has been impressive in recent games.

First, he had a promising cameo in the 3-0 defeat by Manchester City last weekend, before rolling back the years with a demonstration of his athleticism and class with a fine goal in a midweek Europa League win over Wolfsberger.

Since returning to Spurs on a season-long loan from Real Madrid, the Welshman has only started two Premier League games under Mourinho though.

And here’s how West Ham fans reacted to the possibility of this being his third:

Bale has conjured up a few false dawns for Spurs fans already this season, so even if he does start, there’s no guarantee that he’ll be able to ruffle West Ham’s feathers in ways that he did during his first spell in English football.

There is quite a good bit of evidence to suggest that Bale is far less formidable now and it’ll be interesting to see how he does play if the Portuguese starts him.
