West Ham lacked composure at the back against Bournemouth.
West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian has called upon his side to be more resolute defensively when they face West Bromwich Albion next week.
The Hammers drew 3-3 with Bournemouth on Boxing Day in an enthralling encounter and were left aggrieved when Callum Wilson’s controversial goal was allowed to stand.
Wilson’s effort, which pulled Bournemouth level in the third minute of stoppage time at the end of the second half, was given despite initially being ruled out for offside, while there were also claims of handball.
Like his team-mates, Adrian was left livid by the decision, but the Spaniard insisted that his team must defend better.
He told the club’s official website: “We worked so hard together to come back and get the result, but we can’t be happy because we conceded three goals.
“We need to defend much better and deal with the ball in the air much better. We have to defend as a team.”
Although they have shown some signs of improvement under David Moyes, it is clear that West Ham still have much work to do in their quest to avoid relegation.
West Ham are currently in 17th place in the Premier League, one point above the relegation zone and will be determined to prevail against West Brom, who are in serious danger of going down themselves.
Adrian, meanwhile, has managed to keep his place in the side ahead of Joe Hart but will hope to keep a clean sheet against West Brom as he looks to prove to Moyes that he is worth persisting with.
