HITC Sport understands he will take over on an initial deal until the end of the season
Adrian Pennock has agreed to take charge of League One Gillingham, HITC Sport understands.
The 45-year-old is something of a Gills legend, having spent seven years with the club as a player – featuring in nearly 200 games for the Kent club.
Since then he has emerged as a highly regarded coach and until last year was in charge of Conference high-flyers Forest Green Rovers, before his surprise sacking in April.

He has since been working in a consultancy capacity with non-league Welling United, but has been linked with a string of Football League roles.
Now Gillingham have made their move, after they decided to sack their boss Justin Edinburgh earlier this week with the club in 17th place in League One.
HITC Sport now understands that Pennock has agreed to take charge of the club and it will be on an initial deal until the end of the season, with a view to this being extended.
