Goalkeeper Adrian joined Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League leaders Liverpool in August after being released by West Ham United.

Goalkeeper Adrian has admitted that he was ‘shocked’ to hear that Liverpool wanted to sign him weeks after his contract at Premier League rivals West Ham United came to an end, in quotes reported by Mundo Deportivo.
It is not often that a 32-year-old whose most recent appearance came in a 4-2 cup defeat to AFC Wimbledon finds himself on the verge of joining the Champions of Europe on a free transfer.
But that is the situation Adrian faced at the start of August with Jurgen Klopp’s Reds offering a contract to an unattached goalkeeper after the departure of Simon Mignolet.
And, thanks to the injury-enforced absence of Alisson Becker, the likeable Spaniard will always hold a special place in the heart of Liverpool fans everywhere after a match-winning performance in the UEFA Super Cup triumph over Chelsea.
Even today, with Adrian losing his place to the returning Alisson, the veteran stopper is loving life at a club that he never expected to join in the autumn of his career.
“I was a little shocked,” Adrian said when asked how he felt when Liverpool’s interest emerged.

“It is true that (Liverpool’s) scouts had followed me for several years, but I never had the opportunity (to sign for them).
“It’s like a movie. It is something unusual, which cannot happen normally in football. In the end it is about seizing opportunities and being prepared. I knew something good was coming and I had the feeling inside.”
Adrian proved himself to be a more than reliable deputy in the first two months of the season and Klopp will know that he can now rest Alisson and put his trust in the former Real Betis goalkeeper as the season progresses.
So this is not the last we will see of Adrian over what promises to be a brilliant campaign at Anfield.
