Adrian and Manuel Lanzini have taken to Twitter to send an emotional message to Cheikhou Kouyate after the midfielder sealed a move away from West Ham, joining Premier League rivals Crystal Palace this summer.

Kouyate has spent the last four seasons with the Hammers and made nearly 150 appearances for the club, but looked set for a potentially frustrating campaign had he stayed at the London Stadium with Manuel Pellegrini strengthening his options in the middle of the park this summer.

The Guardian reports that the 28-year-old has joined the Eagles for an initial £9.5 million that could rise by a further £1.5 million in future. He has reportedly signed a four-year deal with Roy Hodgson’s side.

And after the midfielder’s Irons exit was confirmed, Adrian and Lanzini both took to social media to express their disappointment that Kouyate has left the club and wish him well at Selhurst Park.

It appears to make sense for West Ham to sell Kouyate this summer. While the reaction to his departure shows that he was clearly a popular player amongst the fans, it does seem to be the right call as he was not always the most consistent player and the Irons have improved their options in midfield during this window.
