Aston Villa need to ensure they do not fall short in 2018.
As impressive as Albert Adomah has been for Aston Villa this season, their last two matches have shown the need for additional quality in forward areas, with Steve Bruce’s side managing just one goal in 180 minutes of football.
The absence of Jonathan Kodjia cannot be understated and yet, Adomah’s star turns have arguably painted over the cracks at the club, with Villa needing more creativity to ensure they secure promotion back to the Premier League at the second attempt.
Adomah has been outstanding for Villa to date, scoring 11 goals in 19 appearances and acting as the catalyst for the club’s impressive surge up the table.
However as with all wide players, he is currently suffering a minor slump, without a goal in his last two games just when Villa need him the most, with Kodjia out injured and youngster Keinan Davis far from the finished product.
Adomah should still impress more often than not for Villa, yet their over-reliance on him makes the January transfer window increasingly important.
Whether it is a loan move or a permanent deal, Villa need to bring in more sparkle to ensure there is always an option to change the game, even when the club’s star turns are falling short.
Perhaps Adomah can do it all on his own and end the season as a superstar in his own right but it is far more likely that, with the additional support, Villa will get back to where they belong.
