New Aston Villa signing Albert Adomah has opened up on his friendship with one current Villa star, as he told the club website of his joy at sealing a move to the Lions.

Adomah will be linking up with fellow Ghana international Jordan Ayew at his new club, something that has helped the 28-year-old settle in.

“Jordan Ayew is an international colleague of mine,” Adomah told the Villa website.

“We’re really close as well. Knowing he is here made it easy. It’s someone to have a good friendship with. I want to crack on, start training with my team-mates and getting to know them – I can’t wait.”

The Ghanian also featured with defender Ritchie De Laet at the Riverside last season, where the Belgian enjoyed a short spell helping the Teessiders earn promotion.

“Ritchie De Laet is new as well,” Adomah noted. “I’ve played with him and it’ll be the same with Jordan, they’ll show me the ropes and make me feel at home.

“I have another friend here and I’m sure I’ll make many more.”

The winger has already featured in the Premier League this season, playing the full 90 minutes in Middlesbrough’s first match back in the division.

Adomah was a key player for Boro in their promotion campaign, playing in 43 matches and having a hand in a dozen goals for Aitor Karanka’s side across the 2015/16 season.

His new boss Roberto Di Matteo will be hoping he has a similar effect for Villa, as the Midland giants hope to bounce back to the top flight at the first time of asking.

Ayew is yet to score in his five Championship matches so far this season, but the presence of his Ghana colleague will only bring the best out in the 24-year-old.
